Not being much of a jet builder I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this project. The kit is on the whole a nice build with good fit if a little fussy at times. The option I chose was of an Argentine subject that took part in the Falklands campaign. This particular aircraft took part in the attack on HMS Ardent on May 21 1982 in Falkland Sound.

Two flights of Skyhawks from the carrier 25 de Mayo struck the type 21 frigate. The first wave of 3 aircraft were unsuccessful with a number of their bombs failing to explode. These 3 aircraft were shot down or in one case badly damaged by Sea Harriers of 800 squadron.

The second wave which included the aircraft modelled managed to evade defences were successful with one of their bombs detonating the ships fuel tanks. HMS Ardent sank the following day killing 22 crewmen out of their complement of 199.

Skyhawk pilots of the Argentine Navy and Air force served with great distinction during the 74 day conflict with many losing their lives in the process.

And there we have it!

A big thanks to you all for looking in, comments, and likes. It makes the building and participating very enjoyable . On to the next one.

Cheers Greg
