I've only just been doing this for a few months so I'd love to hear your comments on how to improve things. For instance, I'm not sure whether if I should add weathering or not. I guess its a matter of taste. Its another technique I'll have to learn.

Ok...judging by your pics the model is the OOB built. She looks really very nice but I have noticed a couple of minor mistakes. Of course these don't make your work worse at any way.

1. seams... although the model is of the 1/72 scale the kind of imperfections is always noticable especially if you use an airbrush for applying of colours. What is more the NMF finish highlights them more and always. Therefore the removing of the seam traces is one of the important parts of a model assembling that influences the model appearance. Usually some of a putty and slightly sanding is enough to remove them fully.

2. geometry... keeping the correct shape and angles for all deatails of a model also makes the inpact on the final turnout. If a detail is bent it can be made straight by handle careful bending in order to get the correct shape. Also attaching the part to the model should be done properly. Usually pictures of the real plane are useful for the correct setting and shaping. If the details are too clumpy it is suggested replacing them with either the photoetched parts or making them from scratch.

3. painting of the cockpit canopy ... no matter if you use a brush or airbrush , the using of masking tape can be very helpful with keeping the painting of the cockpit frames fine. Also if you omitted somehow a part of the frame , just use a brush for correcting and getting the better final effect.

4. decals ... applying decals is also very important for the final appearance. Most of markings on fuselage sides should be applied at the same location and way. It seems that you did that correctly for the port side while the starboard one got the markings located incorrectly. Fixing of a such mistake is really easy. It is enough to applied some of warm clear water at the top edge and overall of the decal marking allowing to soak the decal glue at the underside. Then you may move it with a brush to the correct place. Certaily it has to be done before sealing the decals with the clear coat.

additionally I have noticed there is the lack of swastika on both sides of the fin.

but these were there though ..

5. weathering ... it is quite advanced technique of painting and not always can be used, ecpecially for the small scales eg. 1/72. It requires some of experience and if you aren't skilled at that you may get just a dirty model instead of subtle weathered one. I would suggest training on not needed plastic models or parts to get some more of experience. Also you should be very careful with the weathering because not always it is needed.

That's my three cents.

Welcome to the forum. Good effort, especially if new to modelling. You'll get plenty of help and advice here - just ask.
