Any info on ths one? date? unit? A-3? A-5? a/c colours?

Appreciated,
David.

Edit - found this caption "FW-190 A4 of Staffelkapitän Horst Hanning 2./JG2, Tiqueville, May 1943".

Would that make it 74/75/76 colourwise? Black 1? Yellow tail? Cowling underside yellow?

That identification is confirmed in my copy of Rodeicke's Fw 190 Jagdflugzeug, although the place is not mentioned. Aircraft pretty much as that profile above. The photo was taken in the spring (fruhjahr) of 1943. The aircraft was delivered to JG 2 in November 1942, Stammkennzeichen TR+ZH.

Lt. Hannig was made Staffelkapitan of 2./JG 2 on 27/1/43. He was shot down on 15th May 1943 over Rocquancourt, south of Caen. He abandoned the aircraft but wounded was unable to use his parachute and fell to his death. ("sprang werwundet mit dem falschirm ab, konnte diesen aber nicht mehr ziehen und sturzte todlich ab" from caption on p.126). He was probably shot down by a Spitfire flown by Commandant Mouchotte of 341 (Free French) Squadron. He was credited with 97 victories, the vast majority (90) in the East while serving with JG 54.

Cheers

Steve
