The canopy being missing looks like an ejection maybe???who knows.Wurger might know something of it.Hey Thor off Norway someone else had the same question maybe landed on ice but no gear down.

Well, JG 5 was stationed in Norway. Theory of wheels up landing on frozen lake appears very possible...
Great photos by the way. The bird appears to be in very good shape. Should make restoration process little easier.

The canopy
doesn't look like it's been off for long to me; I'm thinking maybe they removed it to prevent damage, along with the reinforcing bars under the lift straps.

You are right Colin my bad should recognized that,that area is clean and free of mud
