Well here's an update. been bouncing around on the destruction.

Wings put together and lower painted in aluminum as well as gear wells. According to the decal sheet the lower wing and the lower fuselage are nmf.
Used Alclad Aluminium but I'm not sure I like it. I think Dull aluminum would be better. I fist laid down a gloss black primer and than first I used Alclad Airframe Aluminum, WAY to shiny. So I went with the plane aluminum but that looks more like the USAF operation look alike aluminum dope finish.

Gun bay and nose gear the same

Mk 108 30MM were first painted Testors Meatlizer Stainless Steel than over coated with Alclad Gunmetal

I figure I'll try to rub some of the GM off leaving a bit of steel

Engines are a series of colors and I'm just not sure how much will be shown when done, Here the main engines are lower section, I believe the combustion chamber, gunmetal and the upper intake stages are in stainless steel. The engine here is from a museum in Germany I think, Internet photo from Wikipedia page on the Jumo 004.

The nose cone ont he intake is aluminum while the fan blades are Vallejo metal color stainless steel, this I used because it was shinier than the Testors or Alclad, The exhaust section are done in Alclad Pale Burnt metal. I tried the Vallejo color of the same and though the color looked right it had way to much shine to it.

Cockpit is mounted in the fuselage half. I need to piece it all together to check for weight and balance. There are cavities on either side of the nose gear where weight can be added.

So in order to check nose weight necessary to keep it on it's nose I used an oval to hold the gun bay in and pieced the fuselage together and wings with engines in with pva.

The engines are supposed to have cowel put on via an alignment pin at the aft of the engine. This proved to be much to fiddly and frustrating so I just put them together and added the engines after. This process went well.

Picked up some more references material.

Well I gubbered something up somewhere but I've been doing body work when I can. My back is getting better but slowly and I can only spend so much time setting or standing. Good news, Standing hurts faster and more.....

So I added the last piece of tungsten putty I had inside the nose cap and then epoxied a large fishing weight under the gun breaches for the nose weight.

I than glued the gun cover on and had a nightmare ledge drop-off. As can be seen my gun breach cover was off as well toward the back.

I layed down a thin strip of plastic and then applied Tamiya white putty over the whole area, think a car from the northern area driving in the salt for twenty years, Yeah that much bondo.... and got to work contouring. shoot some Mr. Surfacer 1500 and contouring again and repeat.....

Had a gap forward of the nose gearwell and had to stick a piece of plastic in it lest we be sing "All I Want For Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth"

and then I glued the other side of the breach cover on.

I screwed something up gut good. but it's coming around......

I Hope
