The Mk 2 Gannet will come with power folding wings, a stinger hook and quad 20mm Hispano-Suizas. But as they say on the Riverbank, that's another story.
Thoughts on a radio mast and wire from mast to tail? The kit doesn't include this. And what about the RDF beacon tracker for finding the carrier?
IMHO the HF radio equipment and IFF equipment as well as a Type 72 homing beacon. However the R1110 or R1147 receiver vere the VHF ones and didn't need the antenna wire as momo serves.

I think yes. The orginal one used for the prototype looks good. Additionally you may add the IFF antana wire from the stabilizers to the fuselage sides only. Of course you may use an antanna mast the same as for the Hurricane or Spitfire with the triangle penant. But I would suggest moving it more back then to meet the area at the fuselage where the IFF wire came. See the bottom diagram. The IFF wires could be shorter. But it depends on you only.

We'll know in the morning if I taped the canopy well. I've never built a model where you had to trim down the canopy from a sheet. Thankfully they provide two.

Well, the canopy came out "okay", with some matte clear coat contamination, and my dodgy trimming work required some filler. I'm still satisfied enough to keep going. I'll paint the hook the same colour as the bottom, but with a red tip. Next steps are to install the prop and radio mast.
Finally I'm going to try some tin foil with high gloss clear coat for the landing lights. I'll use my test wings first.

Thanks. A little sanding and the first coat of paint helps the canopy look right. A little more putty around the cracks, a second sanding and final coat of grey will have it right.Looking fine. Well done.
I think the model kit came with an overly tall canopy, reminiscent of an A-1K Skyraider II. But in my mind, Gloster has raised the height of the Gannet's seat to improve visibility when landing on aircraft carriers. So, there.

Okay, I'm calling this project complete. We'll skip the radio mast and landing lights. Maybe I'll return in the future to add some weathering and oil stains. So, here we have the non-folding Gloster Gannet Mk.1, armed with eight .303 and powered by a Bristol Perseus to enter service as a replacement for the Gloster Sea Gladiator and the Skua's fighter role. To my mind, the later Gannet Mk.2 will have folding wings, cannons and modified undercarriage so that the wheels rotate to a flush position, like on the Curtiss P-40.
