Now....did all the F Mk. 8's have that colourful tail marking while at RAF Horsham St Faith, between 1946 and 1955, or was it just the CO?

Hi Guys, just picked up your chat from 5 years ago. I can confirm that the yellow tail was just the CO's plane. My Dad, Sqd.Ldr Nick Bowen took over the sqdn in Jan 1954 and his log book records his first flight in WL-135 on April 1954. The same number is recorded until Dec 1954, Thereafter his aircraft was numbered C.O but I'm sure it was the same aircraft. Last recorded flight in this aircraft is July !956.Much obliged old chap....
Shame they have stopped the flash at the vertical stabiliser. Only one line but it makes a big difference IMHO.Good info, and welcome to the site.
The aircraft is now "represented" by another airframe, at the Norwich Air Museum, on the north end of Norwich International .Aiport, formerly R.A.F. Horsham St. Faith. Photo below taken in damp conditions last summer..

Somebody got the checkerboard wrong.
I now see it is the airfix details that mention stradishall? Meteor was flown from Horsham st faith by 245 as I am sure you know.Yup, and the squadron location is written as being at Stradishall, which is where 245 Sqn disbanded in early 1957 equipped with Hawker Hunters.
