I don't know if this is the right place to post this.
I have been cleaning at my grandfathers house this weekend. When i was a kid my father and grandfather used to talk about a Heinkel that crashed in the river a few kilometers from his house. I was told there was a few parts from the plane in the house. I found a bosch unit in the basement that i can't identify. So does any one know what this is?

It is a Magneto from a Jumo 211 (Heinkel and Stuka) Was also used in 1938 F1 Audi racer. See no connection to any tractor (v12 motor)

If you search for the 9-0435H number, it will also include other model numbers, which were used on V-8 engines, tractors and such in the results.

Bosch magnetos were (and are) used on a broad variety of engines.

If you look at the photos, you can clearly see this magneto has a v12 head.

Thanks for the answers.
Anybody know how long bosch made this part?
Tractors was not comon here before after WW2.
I found some more stuff.
And there are a lot of aluminum profiles and some large leather pieces and a tank cover.
Any thing here look like plane parts.
I can't find any records of a plane crashing here. So i will look some more.

It's obviously for a 12 cylinder engine, but using the Gërat number in a search pulls up a majority of magnetos for other engines.
Bosch used the same housing with different distributor heads over many years, so one has to look closely at the head, to tell them apart.

I went to a few more sources and for some reason or another the basic part number shows up in commercial applications so there is a possibility this magneto "might" have been used on a tractor, and note I say "might."

I think we've seen the same thing! ;)

The magneto for the Jumo 211 ... would be the Bosch GE 12 BRS 163, Gerat 9-4035J

jumo211.jpg

the magneto for Bf 109 and Fw 190 ( according to the caption ) ... would be the Bosch GE 12 DRS 195, Gerat 9-4035N-2

BMW.jpg

However the Bosch GE 12 CRS 195, Gerat 9-4035N could be for Junkers plane but not sure for which one ..

gerat 9-4035N.jpg

and here the next one .. The Bosch GE 12 GR8491, Great 9-4035K . Not sure if it is for a plane because the Bosch was making the magnetos for cars and tanks as well.

This picture is from the top of the magneto it has another type of gear in front.
So the solenoid is the bomb relase?
I think i will have a picture of the plane in a few days. There is a family album that has a picture of the plane. The strange thing i can't find any reports of the crash any where. I was told it was shot down 11. April 1940 outside Åndalsnes, Norway. It chrashed higher up in the valley in the river Rauma. Close to a farm called Fiva.
History has a tendency to pull me inn.
Thanks for all of the help !

And therefore the different front gear could be an Auto Union V12 D type. However it looks quit similar to the Bosch GE 12 BRS 163, Gerat 9-4035J, with the front gear your one has. Of course, the Bosch GE 12 BRS 162P, Gerat 9-4035H could be used for a plane as well but powered by a different engine ( engines ).

Judging by the image you posted above it is the top cover only. If you want to see how the device looked like please click the link below ...

BTW ... the sign on the lid there is a logo of the firm ( in German - Hersteller ) that made the device.

Top left is a release relay, probably for bomb release, FL50511-2, top right is the buckle for the release of the parachute harness, bottom left is probably a quick release inspection

hatch and bottom right is hard to tell

By the way the Maybach HL230 V-12 engine had a Bosch magneto and powered the Tiger and King Tiger tanks.
