Help identifying a picture...air craft.

Any one know about this plane ? It's a painting a friend of mine's grandfather did and he has no idea what it is. I told him it's a Me 109, probably an E but that's all I get from it.

Yep, it's a 109E. Looks like Helmut Wick's aircraft.

I think it represents a Bf109E. It's not marked as one of Wick's aircraft and nothing specific springs to mind.

It is an artists impression and not an exact likeness so it may well be a composite of several aircraft created by the artist's imagination.
