How did the DB601/DB605 engine oil system work, with the engine being inverted?

I guess in a normal V engine, oil will drip down into the oil pan, from the cylinders.
But with an inverted V engine, what keep the oil from collecting in the engine cylinders?

The same thing that stops oil from collecting in the lower cylinders of radials when they are running.
As the piston moves up it achieves a speed of hundreds of metres per second. The oil is thown by the piston back to the top of the engine and then flows down to the scavenge system.
