Hello, how should I proceed to get a ID of an aircraft from 1940.
Is it possible just from an old photo, logo on the plane etc?

Yep .. that's the Heinkel He-111 of the H variant IMHO. The colours of the emblem indicates the Gruppe Stab of the KG26. Was she crashed in Norway?

PS. Please .. if you use the Replay button for quoting/answering .. don't hit the Enter key. The text of the quoted in your post automatically and then the system waits for typing of your reply. So just write your words in the window and then hit the Post Reply button. No need to hit it twice.

OK. No problem. However I didn't find any info on the landing there. So perhaps it could be on another day but not on May 15th.

4 May
Six aircraft of III./KG 26 made an unsuccessful attack on naval units; one of them made a forced landing near Vega while a second was completely wrecked lading in Trondheim.

14 May
The II./KG 26 operated four He 111 H-3 and three H-4 during the afternoon. One of these was attacked by fighters which shots its port engine to pieces and damaged its landing gear; none of the crew was hurt but it force landed about 85 km ENE of Bodø.
