Hi
I have the attached single sheet on the AYF radio altimeter. I'd like to know what manual it is from and what the date might be please.
Cheers
Paul

It is from one revision or another of the AN 01-190EB-1 TBM-3 Pilot's Handbook of Flight Operating Instructions. I do not know what revision.

You can find the May 1945 revision at the Museum of Flight in their digital collection under 'Manuals'.

"Pilot's handbook of flight operating instructions : Navy model TBM-3 airplane, British model Avenger III airplane."

Whoops! Wurger already posted what manual it is from. :)

If you know who made those sets you could try Bama Manual Archive but unfortunately they only list by manufacturer.

You could also try WS19 group Wireless Set No 19 Group Royal Signals, WS19, WS18, WS38, 19set, FREE military document Archive.. It is not an easy site to navigate and you must become a member. Their list on page Wireless Set No 19 Group Radio Navigation aids covers the AYD-3 and equates it to the AN/ARN-1 and that is probably an easier manual to find as it was used on many aircraft. Radionerds may have it under the ARN title as a TO or AN. If the manual is AN then it applies to both Army and Navy aircraft. Radionerds may have the individual component manuals like the BC-788-C as an option. Unfortunately I do not have a list of the BC and SCR etc components that make up the ARN-1.

It can also be found chasing AN 16-30APN1-6. Essco has it. Copies pop up on evilbay as well. There is one there now. The Australian War Memorial has a copy of the maintenance manual in their library, but it's not digitized.

By the start of 1944 production of the AYD-3 had either ended or was about to end. In January 1944 the US listed the AYD-3 (AN/ARN-1) as an interim Navy set (pending more AYF's replacing it) . Earlier versions of the AYD were noted as obsolete.

Manufacturing companies. AYD - Belmont and RCA. AYF - Seems that bulk was RCA but mention is made of Detrola, REL and Continental but all the latter possibly for a version that was cancelled.

I have now found "Handbook of Operating Instructions for* AN/APN-1, *AN/APN-1A and *AN/APN-1B Aircraft Radio Altimeter Equipments". (Versions of AYF). It is in the UK TNA Air10/3403. Like most TNA files it is not online.
US Ref AN-08-10-213 and UK AP number. AP2582A. Dated November 1943. A joint publication but seems to be primarily a US document, unsurprisingly.

For the AYD (AN/ARN-1) I have AIR10/3250 "Radio Altimeter Equipment AYD Series 2nd Edition" May 1944 AP2533A.
