US A1 low level bombsight

Coastal Command Review in August 1943 reported a USAAF Liberator T/4 attack on a U-boat on 2 August. From 50' it dropped 12 depth charges on a U-boat. It was quoted as using "...an American A.1 low level bombsight".
Anyone able to point me to information on that bombsight please? No doubt it arrived pre-installed on the Liberator.

I am pretty sure it is this one. It was a common piece of equipment, but not often mentioned for some reason.

Thanks. That certainly fits the bill. I expect it was whipped out and an LLBS Mk III installed at an early opportunity. The pilot view over a Liberator nose was poor and he had plenty to do flying a big plane at 50'. Also simplifies training and spares. Is that image public domain so I could use in a piece? Nice one.

The image is from a digitized manual freely available on the "AeroAntique On-Line Library". It is in the document "Index of Army Aeronautical Equipment with Navy and British Equivalents, Volume 5 - Armament, Revised 01 March 1944" a little ways down the webpage here "AeroAntique On-Line Library".

The website owner says the documents he has uploaded there are freely downloadable, so I think it is the usual free from copyright if used for informational purposes. Making money by using the entire PDF or some such might be frowned on. But you can contact someone at the site and ask if you think it advisable: "About us"

Actually the Lib was USAAF so I was wrong to say that it would be swapped out for a British Mk III.
