Interesting, the "Ace" 1000 seems to be also the engine sold to the UK for emplacement in some torpedo boat at 1938-39.
With 57 liters was a real monster but not in the power output departament.
The low grade of italian fuel probably has something to do with it, 84 to 86 octanes. They never used the 100 octane fuel except in some races like the MC72.
By the way the Asso 750 compression ratio was 5,6 to 1.
