Magnitude-7.6 quake in Japan prompts tsunami warning and evacuation order

The quake has seen a tsunami warning issued for large parts of Japan's northern coastline and about 90,000 people ordered to evacuate to higher ground.

Tsunami warning for northern Japan after magnitude 6.7 earthquake

The quake struck off Japan's north-east coast with a depth of 20 kilometres, after a bigger, 7.5-magnitude earthquake hit the same region late on Monday.

If memory serves right, Shinpachi is in Osaka prefecture, which is south of Tokyo and thus away from the recent quakes.

Still, hoping he, his family and our other forum members from Japan are out of harm's way and safe.
