It's a shame that no billionaire has the stones to step in and see her preserved. Future generations will wonder why we kept her around for so long, just to sink her. How short sited. SMH
I was fortunate to sail on Her maiden voyage westward from Europe in 1951 with my mother. I was 10 years young. She had already set the record eastbound earlier and was now setting the westbound record. Believe me it was quite a fast ride for such a large vessel. It was a constant windy walk on deck due to the haul ass run west. I'll never forget the welcome when we arrived in New York. At 83 I wish Her Bon Voyage and thanks for the ride.
You guys lived so close to each otherI have lived in Southern New Jersey across from Philadelphia for over 60 years as Marcel can attest to. I used to go to IKEA and order some lunch or breakfast and gaze on the United States from the big windows. Now I have moved to Florida and that big ole rust bucket is following me down! But that is not the biggest disappointment. It's that I missed a chance to meet up with Capt. Vick!!! Damn!
You guys lived so close to each other
I'm glad I've been able to visit you both, even if it's 6000 bloody km away.
