Dear members,
the son of 1Lt Donald Nelson HYDER is looking for more info on his father who flew a C-47 from the UK to the vicinity of Mourmelon, France during the battle of the Bulge, transporting members of the 17th Airborne Division. Flight records for instance indicate:
27 December 1944
from A79 (Ramsbury)
To: 493
Type C-47A
Duration 2:15

Thanks for any more details

For a start, the 437th Troop Carrier Group occupied the base from February '44 to February '45. The squadrons were: 83rd Troop Carrier Squadron (T2), 84th TCS (Z8), 85th TCS (90) and 86th TCS (5K)
Thanks already for this. FILIP

I have some extra info from the pilot's son. Any more info is appreciated, thank you !

Filip,
I know that my Father Donald Hyder was assigned to the 315th Troop Carrier Group, and the 310th Troop Carrier Squadron upon arrival in Great Britain. He brought a new C-47-A-25-DK in June of 1944 from Maine to Great Britain. The number of this plane may be 42-93516. He was the Co-pilot and the pilot was 2nd Lt. Floyd L. Livingston. I cannot find a name on the nose of the plane, or whether he stayed with this plane or flew various planes on missions. Whatever you can find out is appreciated!

Sincerely,

Mr. Les Hyder
