Today I started to build an P-47D Academy 1/72, but after to see the Ponie´s I´ll do a P-51B too !!!

About the colors

The P-51B are on Natural Metal , some have the Chinese Markings aplied just over the USAF markings (the USAF markings was painted and the chinese markings aplied over there, some serial numbers are painted off too...)

The B on the fabric looks like Olive Drab/Neutral Gray...

The Jug´s are Olive Drab/Neutral Gray, I read this on the book on my first
post....

The "D" ponies was natural metal too...

About the markings

There are two sizes, on Jugs and P-51B, but on the P-51D they looks some small... they are aplied on all wings ? (left/right) and Top/Botton, or they are aplied like USAF scheme ?

All markings (fuselage/wings) are on the same size...

How the Ponies goes to Chinese Air Force ?

I´m right ? Some other impressions guys ?

Those aren't SNJs... they're Tachikawa Ki-55 Idas.

The NA-16 family is a fairly complex subject which I have yet to master, so I dunno what variants these are...

This looks like a BT-9, but with a later windscreen...

These look like BC-1s with BT-9 rudders...

Anyone know how many plane we left in China ..??? Or if and how they were used ...??.. And what be came of them..??

Lot of info of CBI in ww11.. And info about communist after they took over..But not about the fight after ww11 was over and the war with the communist.. The allies and Japan must of left a mess of arms behind..

Just a peace of history "I" have no clue about...?

About the P-51C on the pics, they are Olive Drab/Neutral Grey ?

What color are used to pint the planes ?

On the tail are a some square markings (that are almost missing) that I think suggest that they are flow by some USA Squadron on CBI... some info about this ?

I'm a warbirds profiles collector and have some chinese Thunderbolts pictures.

Edit : It seems that the P-47D Razorback profile is in fact a 11st FG Chinese AF based on Kangwan field, Shangai during 1947.
I've been told that many of them join this fighter group this year.

I think the P-51s are aluminium natural, like the P-47 you've done.
I really like the kit, very realistic finition aspect, and it's not easy to realise.
I'm gonna paste some P-51 profiles, but as the P-47s they come from a low definition russian site, so Net research is necessary to obtain details.
I'm gonna upload the profiles, see you next post.

I think that's because the Chinese camo schemes aren't as popular as these used in Europe or over Pacyfic.

I think you're right the chinese warbirds are commun but their history could be interesting.
For example the last profile make me think about a P-51D or K of ex 348th FG, the prop spinner have the same 3 colours than the mustangs of Col William Banks or Col William Dunham, both commanders of the 348th Fighter Group based at Ie Shima during summer 1945.
The warbird didn't want to get back, wanted to fly and fly and fly ...

Here is a more detailled profile than the last one of the last set.
There is a legend inside and the logo is more visible.
Some other I found on Wing Palette site and one of KTM chinese to make a pair of China civil war Mustang/Cavalier.
I've copy/paste the informations inside the pictures, easier like that.

But I guess that these P-51 on the pics aren't alluminium... cos they have some square-lined painture (almost extinguished painting) on the tail.

What squadrons flow these painture scheme on CBI ?

I think that these plane was moved to some of these squadrons and incorporated by the China Air Force, so discovering what squadron flow P-51C's with the tail square-lined, I think that it a great chance to have sucess on the correct painture....
