As an escort fighter the Mosquito is not considered effective owing to its limited powers of offence. It would probably be a liability to a bomber force.
It seems to me that the fairest competitor to the F7F would be the Sea Hornet. Both planes could have seen combat in the war if that was deemed a priority, but neither did. Both are naval fighters. As opposed to the Hornet's 475 maximum speed, the Sea Hornet had a maximum speed of 460 MPH. Here's a chart from ww2aircraftperformance. IMHO, the two aircraft, similarly configured would be about a wash, with difference in pilot skill far outweighing any advantage by either aircraft.
