Wurger, is there any information about the Polish MiG-23 #460? I would especially like to know as much as possible about the strange, in my opinion, paint scheme (I assume that this is its own Polish color). and the AIR SHOW POZANIA emblem. If you maen a close up view of the inscription I haven't seen such ones.
What is a white border and why do some planes have one around the number and some don't?
I mean why do some side numbers have a white border and some don'tDo you mean the one? If you do, the white bands were used as an additional ID marking for the exercise "Orli Szpon 97" in 90'.

The camouflage of her isn't strange and the colours aren't the own Polish ones. . The plane was overhauled in Plovdiv, Bulgaria from 1990 to 31.05.1991. And the camouflage is typical for all Polish MiG-23 renovated there.
Regarding the " AIR SHOW POZANAŃ" emblem .... it is a kind of a commemorative badge that was applied on the MiG-23MF that were sent to the Ławica airfield in Poznań in order to participate in the International Air Show on August 25th 1991.

I would like to know what exactly was said about the export of the MiG-23 to Europe
Why did the USSR export the MiG-23 to Europe?I'm not sure what you mean. Could you be more accurate?
Why did the USSR export the MiG-23 to Europe?
Which personally surprises me greatly. Discussions about the qualities and effectiveness of the MiG-23 were even held among their pilots, and as far as I could see, the range of opinions was quite wide. Everyone agreed that the MiG-23MLD was very good and in many ways better than the MiG-29, but before the ML, all modifications had so many significant shortcomings that their value seems somewhat overestimated. There were particularly many complaints about the large number of restrictions when launching long-range missiles and the unreliable operation of the radar (on the MLD, the radar was already considered as very reliable). I heard the opinion that the pilot did not see the marker where the missile itself was aimed - he only saw the radar marker, so if the missile captured a false target, the pilot did not know about it. Some pilots claimed that the early versions of the MiG-23 were "flying logs" and that flying them was no fun at all, unlike the MiG-21, for example. But there are also those who deny all this and consider even the MiG-23M to be an excellent fighter. In general, I still do not have a clear idea of the real performance of the MiG-23.Here in Poland it was considered a very good plane.
