Another McCarthy victim was Elizabeth Hawes

Author, society women, fashion designer, reporter. She decided to be one of the first to volunteer as a worker in a war factory (building Wright aircraft engines), joined the unions and wrote about it thus causing McCarthy to destroy her.

I can post her 1943 book on her experiences in the engine factory if you want - Why Women Cry - wenches with wrenches -

Her writing is quite acidic at times - especially when she describes the various types of women. She is what would now be called a feminist but her definition of feminists shows how much that decriptor has changed over time.

My Mom got a job at Consolidated Aircraft in Fort Worth during the war as a riveter.

Did she save any of the company publications - there was at least one newspaper (The Consolidated News) and at least one magazine (the Consolidator) and dozens of other things like riveter training publications?

If so I for one would like to see them. I have some copies of the Consolidator in PDF but I do not think that it is a full set. I have never seen the News

Sorry, no publications that I know of, and she passed in 1979.
