Has anyone attempted or completed this kit. I have read reviews that were not very favorable but it is doable with perseverance and patents, not sure how much of either I have. But I do have three of the kits and like the plane.

I have some of the P-82B kits and one of the F-82G. I noted one significant inaccuracy in that the G radar pod is much too small. It is about the size of a 1/48 torpedo while in reality the front of the pod is almost as big as the nose of a 1/48 P-61.

They provide different noses for the P-82 and F-82 versions, due to the V-1650 versus the V-1710 versions.

The Osprey book on "Modeling the P-51 Mustang" shows how to improve the kit, fix its problems, and rebuild the radar pod into a more accurate representation. They describe this as a "long and arduous task." They made it rather longer and more arduous than I would have. For example, deciding the wheel wells are too shallow and building new ones.

You might get a copy of that book if you want to see what to fix and how to do it.
