Ah, the Scottish Aviation Pioneer, the aeroplane that could have been as successful and prolific as the Beaver but was too big. It had astonishingly good low-speed handling, being able to land anywhere but so few of them were built and sold, which is sad. The Twin Pin was more successful but it too was not built in large numbers. The indigenous Scottish aviation industry was not self-sustaining.
The Prentice always reminded me of an aeroplane designed by a committee, each department with its own agenda... This is an Argentine one, the Argies got a whole lot of British equipment after WW2 in a trade agreement that saw Britain receive meat products and Argentina's FAA become (momentarily) the most powerful air force in South America. Included in the deal was everything from Bristol Freighters, to Avro Lancasters and Lincolns and Gloster Meteors as well as training aircraft like the Prentice.
