I started this in 1987 and now it is done. Until this one, the only P-51 I'd ever built was the venerable Hawk/Testors P-51 and the Monogram P-51B. I'm not totally satisfied with it but am glad it's done.The under wing lights are punched decals and I had to resort to reading Hasegawa instructions to find the order of position as Monogram never mentioned them. Feel free to point out flaws as I can't stand treacle. This paint scheme has been done to death and my next P-51 will be something that I would want in markings.

I don't see much wrong with that. You did a very good job on that old but venerable kit. As for feedback, you may find that the insides of the gear covers would actually be left unpainted on period aircraft though I'd have to check. No doubt, many modern restorations have applied zinc chromate to these areas to enhance their longevity. Also, a true Mustang would have had the panel lines and rivets on the wing puttied over and the whole wing was painted silver. Of course this would have created a whole pile of work for you and it's understandable that many modelers don't go that route for this reason. All in all though, a good model, much better than the one I did many years ago!
 
Thanks. The instructions call for green on the inside and at the time when this was started I had never heard of the internet. All future Mustangs will have natural metal wheel wells. However, didn't the B and C models have green wells?
 
I agree that's a nice looking model of P-51. As far as the wheell bays tof solid silver are concerned. It doesn't seem to be true entirely. It appears that some of stringers and other parts there could be of the YZC greenish tone.

I agree with all - well done on an old kit. I still have the one i built in 1987, although it's looking rather tired now !
As for the wheel bays, on period aircraft, they were bare metal, with a clear lacquer coating, with the exception of the rear 'wall', which was actually the front face of the main spar, which was finished in ZC.

I agree with all, it looks very good your Tang.
I am also taking notes for when I have in my hands that version of your P-51
