Thanks for the link. The exhaust outlets being at the same level as the prop shaft supports the Sabre.
Per Lumsden, the two stage Sabre E118 was from 1941 so that also agrees with the document.
On the flip side, I am not sure if a bomb aimer would be needed in a day/night fighter.
