I just learned Rick Derringer recently passed, I am told I met him once when one of my older sisters was hooking up with someone in the Band, but I was about 5 years old at the time.
I really did not appreciate his talent until I heard his playing on Weird Al's "Eat it" it sounded so just like Eddie Van Halen's rifts on the original Beat it.

Guy was a little crazy, like most drummers in bands I've played with -- but with the technique to back it up. I was driving home from the supermarket today when some Benatar came on the radio, and it got me to thinking how both Grombacher and Neil Geraldo were both just great musicians ... succinct on their instruments, plugging in the right part at the right moment, not overplaying, but hitting the sweet spot.

No, you're not wrong, it's just not in your style...Nothing wrong with that. I despise a couple of genres of music and my wife will testify that I will almost destroy the radio in the car trying to turn it off or switch stations when one of "those" comes on.

I wasn't a big fan of the band, but yeah, their harmonies could be great. They had a few songs that were just absolutely incredible, once they got past the early-years watered-down Chuck Berry riffage.
