I just learned Rick Derringer recently passed, I am told I met him once when one of my older sisters was hooking up with someone in the Band, but I was about 5 years old at the time.

I really did not appreciate his talent until I heard his playing on Weird Al's "Eat it" it sounded so just like Eddie Van Halen's rifts on the original Beat it.

Also played with Johnny Winter back in the early 70's, check out the album Live/Johnny Winter And.

Myron Grombacher - drummer for Pat Benatar on her 2nd - 10th albums (1980-1993).

Guy was a little crazy, like most drummers in bands I've played with -- but with the technique to back it up. I was driving home from the supermarket today when some Benatar came on the radio, and it got me to thinking how both Grombacher and Neil Geraldo were both just great musicians ... succinct on their instruments, plugging in the right part at the right moment, not overplaying, but hitting the sweet spot.

Not my style. But because of millions of record sells and fans i am wrong.

Good surfin' Brian
No, you're not wrong, it's just not in your style...Nothing wrong with that. I despise a couple of genres of music and my wife will testify that I will almost destroy the radio in the car trying to turn it off or switch stations when one of "those" comes on. :woot:

He's not the last Beach Boy original, his cousin was an original, Mike Love. Mike still tours with the group. He is however the last Wilson brother to pass. They were definitely great harmonizers.

I wasn't a big fan of the band, but yeah, their harmonies could be great. They had a few songs that were just absolutely incredible, once they got past the early-years watered-down Chuck Berry riffage.
