Near Miss at JFK

One aircraft overshot and swung too wide turning onto the approach path. I've done it ... but not since pilot training. He was probably trying to give his passengers a smooth ride and didn't want to bank it up too much to make the turn. I once came much closer to an airliner than this, but the FAA refused to accept my near-miss report because we were (according to them) more than 500 feet vertically separated. Looked closer than 500 feet to me, and directly overhead. Oh well, no harm: no foul, I guess. This "near miss" at JFK was not that big a deal - pilot error, seen and corrected. (IMO).
