The Beluga XL is an innovative construction and is designed to have a 30% greater load capacity than its predecessor, to be able to load two wings of the A350 inside. In November 2019 it obtained the Type Certificate from the European Aviation Safety Agency following over 200 flight tests with a total duration of over 700 hours. The aircraft officially entered service on January 9, 2020.
