I do agree that a plane designed as a night fighter from the get-go would've been superior than a conversion of a single seater. I don't agree that 'my' P-47 as a night fighter (even the Doublebolt with a rear tank) would've been another 'sergeant eliminator'. We can compare real P-51D/K with a rear fuel tank vs. P-47 proposal:
