OK i played in PhotoPad a bit with colour curves in the image by adding a bit of green and blue and retract a bit of red to get the background better (bushes darker green and grass a bit greener and hilside crack and patches on ground in the foreground remaining in earthy colour) and it could be either olive drab-ish or i got it wrong and could be brown.

On the second photo with B-17D at Iba Field i substracted a bit of green and blue and added a bit of red to get the gravel road less yellow and grass more green

What do you think?

I'm just putting together a few updates but one thing I notice is that the 'condemned' date for many is wrong: it's not "8 November 1942" but 18 January 1942 - the date shown on the record card has been mis-read (it's shown as "11842", so does look like it might be November 8). However a number of record cards also show a more clear date of "1/18/42" and this date makes much more sense anyway.

Could be or could be buirocratic clearing of the books later. What was the ussual format for dates at the time?
For example Aussie Hudsons lost in Malaya and NEI not reported lost previously (some were lost already in december) or of which records were lost due to chaos of operations were stricken of charge on 06/03/42

Format is usually as given, just that '11842' could be interpreted as 1-18-42 or 11-8-42. Hence the error, oft-repeated. These are the correct card transcriptions:
