Nothing About D-Day???

There was only one small article on the BBC internet news, covering a British veteran's memories of the day.
Similar with the anniversary of the Dams raid in May - no coverage, which is strange considering it was the 80th anniversary.

However, things are building for D-Day events next year, with the D-Day Squadron preparing to bring C-47's to Europe again, from the US, Canada and elsewhere, with para drops in the UK and Normandy, like they did in 2019.

I didn't expect anything as June 6 was yesterday here & the UK is 11 hours behind me. Will watch tonight's first 2 news items but there is much more interesting (repeat) programs on other channels.

I think WWII in general is approaching the point of the American Civil War, in terms of the historical perspective of the American public, who've long been more concerned with the latest model of iPhone or how many freakin' "shares" they got for their last Twitter post.

Speaking of which, Twitter's 160-character limit speaks precisely to the short attention-span which relegates massive historical events to, well, either trivia or complete ignorance. It speaks directly to the Short Attention-Span Theater® that is modern American culture.

That might be true for the US, but Europe does remember that quite well, and gives attention to this historic chapter. Untill now.
Wich is odd. 1 reason from the powers at the helm could be that in remember D-Day they would have to include a part of a former allie that now behaves like a nation they landed for and defeated in the first place.

No doubt European attitudes are different -- the many nations scarred by the war, the many millions of deaths, should certainly have made a deeper impression than what Americans experienced and therefore remember.

Well, because there is no money to write about it!!! But there is money to write about Ukraine! As there wasn't any money to write about Iran Uprising.

This is the plan. We're all supposed to forget the greatness of our country.. To be replaced with disdain and anger.. Things don't just happen…All the lives and blood lost..Such a disgrace..Our leadership is compromised…

And we have a no politics rule on this forum. If you are not familiar with the rules please go and make yourself familiar with them.
