P-51H Mustang earmarked for the UK?

How much truth is there to this? I've read (including here) that one P-51H was assigned to be delivered to the UK for RAF/RAE eval. at Boscombe Down, though as far as is known, that never actually happened. If there was a P-51H set aside for UK eval, is there any information to it's fate between then and it's scrapping/decomissioning?

USAAF Delivery Logs: P-51H-5 44-64181 became KN987, accepted 9 June 1945, delivered 13 June, back to USAAF 5 September. Reported only made it to Newark.
