I recently acquired this seat from a guy in France, he said his father recovered it from a P47 in Normandy. That's all the history I know. I have some knowledge P47 seats and they don't appear to have a high straight back as on the one I've got. But the it has the correct seat base with the lighting holes and the paint patina is spot on. It appears to have had a darker shade of interior green applied over a lighter sprayed on finish, and signs of serious wear to the seat base, maybe a razor backed P47D. Anyone out there in WW2 Aircraft land can help me confirm its identity.

Don't worry about the zinc chromate shades - they will vary and if the aircraft went though any major maintenance chances are the seat was touched up destroying the actual original color. Are there any part numbers or stamps on the seat?

Hie I've given the seat a good once over and found no major markings, maybe they are obscured by paint. The left hand lower lever has No's 0-3903-12ASS. The top capping piece has the round stamps with what appears to be A S and some numbers, 53011-7 also a stamp SEM. I'll take some pics to make it clearer to understand.
