Sitting with several GAZ, ZIL, URAL, I was thinking of using one from the infamous Shelf of Doom, to try this with paint chipping....in this case, a ZIL, 157.
How did they paint these from the 'ground up', did all the makes use the same primer?
Jan, the colour is similar to the so-called white/grey metal. Usually the engine looked like being quite dirty. The parts that were the exhuast lines were rusty. The parts that where affected by the heat were of the overheating tinge and sometimes of the steel one. Almost all cables were of black insulation or of the metal briding. A couple of external devices attached to the engine body, was of black. The rubber pipes were black or sooty black.
