The extensive activities planned at my house for today will be subject to delays due to heavy bird activity directly overhead and otherwise nearby.

The Birds came over twice today. Looks like they use my house to line up for the show. Then a P-51 flying formation with an A-10 came over several times, as well as the GEICO Skytypers in theirT-6's.
I was going to give you a dislike for having an airshow literally in (above) your backyard but my wife wants me to be a better person.

Several years back they had an event where they not only had an airshow in Cocoa Beach but also sent the Birds out to appear in events all over Florida. Those F-16's right came over my house at low altitude in that classic tight formation every day for a week.

I once lived in Oxnard under the pattern the Blue Angels used for airshows at Pt Mugu, back in the 80s. We'd climb up on the roof and get a free airshow or two.

I went to that one once, in 1982. Boy, that was an airshow. Two F-14's fired AIM-9's right overhead! You got to see those missiles light and come off the rails in High Def.

Afterwards, my girlfriend said, "You know that was real. Those missiles firing and everything That was real."

I asked her how she liked it and she replied she was going to have to think about it some.

Yeah. And I had flashbacks from the show in 2002.

The longest and most memorable air show was in the weeks after hurricane Katrina. My house was within sight of N.O international (MSY) and the traffic was continuous. I saw every model of Sikorsky helicopter. Even an old recip engine H-34. One day, I later encountered the H-34 over the interstate while I was on the way to Baton Rouge and he was only just faster than I was. There were C-5s, C-17s, C-130s in the air as well as civil airliners bringing supplies. A couple days of memorable very low flight by two C-130s (Indiana Air Guard?) in tight formation spraying for mosquitos. The bugs, not the planes. All in all, an airshow I would rather not have happen.

Yesterday the airshow had an extra special feature.

They ditched a restored TBM right next to the beach. This was not a planned event.

Hope they are able to rebuild it, again.
