The Air Force has always had a dose of aircraft carrier envy. In this '70s concept study, they proposed their version of a mobile air base, supporting a full squadron of F-4Cs.

While highly classified, recently leaked documents reveal the flaws leading to cancellation.

Secondary requirements like range, refueling, and runway adequacy were deferred while Mission Critical issues were prioritized.

It's obvious that there was adequate space for the O'Club, BOQ and BX, but they could not accommodate the golf course ...

It's to warn people not to smoke within 50 feet of the trainer, oh, sorry you were referring to the hammock. That's a safety feature just in case someone did smoke within 50 feet of the trainer and the trainee had to bail out due to fire and impending explosion.

Only nine of the 25 cars finished the race after a first-lap pile-up eliminated five cars and sent another three limping back to the pits.
