The Ki-61 under restoration - update.
The exorcism is traditional and perfect but the 'restoration' looks like building a real size scale model to me.

Amazing job! It will be made flyable or only for static exhibition?

The model will be static exhibition but I don't know details as it belongs to private collection.

Photographer Hajime Yoshida and one of his works in Rabaul.

What would he be flying in do you think?

Probably G4M.

[Shinpachi]

Oh, I forgot to tell my impression everytime I feel to see such real size scale models in my country.
Thin and sharp propller blades will give more reality to them IMO.

- like this Ki-61 restored by Kawasaki in 2016

[Vic Balshaw]

Nice to see.

Nice, is that a G3M?

[Shinpachi]

Nice, is that a G3M?

Caption says it is Model 22 but looks like G4M Model 11 though design looks 'slightly' different.
G3M's is not so sophisticated IMO.

I was thinking it was taken looking out the dorsal gunners position on a G3M, I think I see one of the twin vertical stabilizers in the background. But I have been incorrect many times in the past.
