This area was once occupied by ancient China (Tang) in the 7th century.
2,000 troops are said stayed there. Some of them moved to Nara, the capital of ancient Japan, later to teach Chinese political system as well as characters.
Tang retreated from Japan and Korea decades later.

Man, that is one very tired ship.

Yes, it's Japanese LST (Class or Mk. 101 of turbine-engine type, so-called Mk. 103) developed based on the British TLC Mk.5 in 1943.

I'm wondering how many of our members could easily identify that engine?

Not me that is for sure.

Pre 60s I would say because it has separate cans and those were replaced with cannular combusters in most if not all new engines by then
