C-54E-10-DO 44-9076, ca.1957 NEAC. Upgraded to VC-54E. MASDC 25Sep55. Returned to service with 127th TRG Feb 9, 1967. WFU and stored MASDC as CC0123 Apr 16, 1972. Bought by Dross Metals Inc Nov 13, 1975. Bought by Desert Air Parts Inc Aug 9, 1967. Reregistered as N3366F Sep 17, 1976. Bought by Millardair Nov 1977, reregistered as C-GQIC 1980. 28AUG2002 On final approach to Diavik Airport, the four engine aircraft was too low. This caused the undercarriage to struck the ground about one metre short of runway 10 threshold. On impact, the undercarriage were torn off and the aircraft slid on the runway for almost 300 metres then lost its right wing and rotated to the right before coming to rest, bursting into flames. Both pilots escaped with minor injuries and the aircraft was destroyed. Original photo of 9076 in the snow was taken by Tom Shotwell ca.1957 at Goose Bay, NL. Any information on it's USAF life would be appreciated.
