Jazz under the Nazis

During the Weimar Republic (1918-1933), jazz conquered Germany and became a symbol of the Roaring Twenties. After Hitler took power in 1933, attacks on jazz (fremdländisch) intensified. On 17 January 1942 public and private dance events finally prohibited which led to the downfall of jazz too.
