Vienan Susi (Viena's Wolf)

"Susi" in relation to the Hawker Hurricane most commonly refers to "Vienan Susi" (Finnish for "Viena's Wolf"), a nickname given to a Soviet Air Force Hawker Hurricane Mk. II captured and later operated by the Finnish Air Force.

• Origin: The aircraft was a Lend-Lease British-built Hawker Hurricane (specifically a Mk. IIa, serial Z2585) flown by Soviet pilot Lieutenant Nikolai Andreyevich Biletsky in the Arctic/Murmansk/Tiiksjärvi sector.
• Capture: The plane was forced down or captured by Finnish forces in February 1942 near Uhtua after being damaged by Finnish anti-aircraft fire.
•
•
• (is this same a/c?)
• Finnish Service: The Finns repaired and re-registered the fighter as HC-465 in the Finnish Air Force, where it flew operational sorties against its former owners.
• Legacy: The distinct "Vienan Susi" markings and history are a popular subject among aviation historians, scale-model builders, and warbird restorations.
• Claimed Fate: Hurricane I N2394, Finnish Air Force serial number HC-452 is on display Aviation Museum of Central Finland (Keski-Suomen Ilmailumuseo), Tikkakoski, Finland. It is the second oldest extant Hurricane in the world, and still bears the Finnish 1942 painted camouflage.

Two versions of Vienan Susi fate. Not trusting Wiki due to its sources, I'm hoping and tending toward the Museum's account.

• 1 - From Wiki/AI - The historical Hawker Hurricane known as "Vienan Susi" (Viena's Wolf, often referred to as "Vienna Susi") did not survive the war and was scrapped in late 1944. However, its distinct history and markings were temporarily resurrected decades later on a modern airworthy reproduction. (If so, where?)
• 2 - From Keski-Suomen Ilmailumuseo website - After being withdrawn from service, the aircraft had been stripped of its engine and virtually all easily removable equipment, such as weapons and instruments. Furthermore, certain components—such as the plexiglass canopy panels—had sustained varying degrees of damage, while a few individual parts, such as a cover plate at the wing attachment point, had gone missing or been stolen. The airframe required a substantial amount of cleaning and preservation work—a time-consuming phase. During the cleaning process, care had to be taken to ensure that the treatment did not damage the original materials, while also preserving the signs of wear and tear that had accumulated during the aircraft's operational life. The aircraft's components, as well as its fabric and painted surfaces, also required repair, with the goal of retaining as much of the original material and its appearance as possible. The workload involved in replacing missing equipment varied depending on the specific part; some items simply needed to be screwed back into place, while others required more extensive restoration or the fabrication of missing components. The appropriate equipment was sourced from the collections of domestic museums, and some components were received as donations from private individuals. Additionally, materials—including an engine—were acquired from England through an exchange. Very few new parts were manufactured for the aircraft; while a few specific components were recreated from scratch, the bulk of the restoration work involved repairing original material. The most significant replica parts—those not made from original material—are the exhaust pipes, which are constructed from fiberglass. There are still some minor gaps in the equipment: the engine lacks internal components, the manual starting mechanism is incomplete, and a warning buzzer is missing from the cockpit.
