Right out of the crate.
This is one of the 3 B-314A sold to BOAC. NC18697 was named "Bristol". It was sold to General Phoenix Corporation, Baltimore as NC18607 in 1948. The above photo shows this late configuration of the plane.

Great pic ... and 2 ships with interesting careers:: Venerable serving with the RN, RNN and ARA, and the Oriani serving with the RM and MN. Per Reddit, the pic was taken while Oriani was escorting Venerable to the Suez Canal, on her way to the Pacific War

American fighter pilots Richard Alexander, Gilmore Daniel, Hugh Kennard, Michael Miluck, Chesley Peterson (in the cockpit), Jimmy Grey, Colonel Reade Tilley, and Smith, all former fighter pilots of the RAF Eagle Squadron during the Second World War, pose beside a Spitfire during a reunion at the Royal Air Force station, RAF Biggin Hill in Bromley, London, England, 4th September 1976. Other than 'Smith', no further information was available for naming this pilot.
