A favorite photo with some hidden history. Three TBDs at the stern wear experimental camouflages. All have been overpainted with dull aluminum with Dark Green upper surfaces. One aircraft has a heavy dull aluminum blotching on the green, one a light blotching, and one no blotching at all. If I ever get back to the hobby....

Check how the Cat # 14 is in the ASW-camouflage and the other one (partial view) is in overall white.

The second Cat has the yellow bordered insignia adopted on october 1942 for Operation Torch. It could have served with VPB-92.

Both are from VP-92. This photo was taken in Port Lyautey, French Morocco in 1943. The building on the left side is very characteristic for the base. Here's another photo with the same building and a "MADD Cat" from VPB-63:
