Never had any time with them. Spent more than twelve years working KC-135's and they were always very reliable. Makes me wonder what happened to Boeing?KC-10, we loved 'em in Spain ... no IFEs I remember, they were very reliable.

You could launch three 135's for bomber or one KC-10. 135 fueling a C-5 was always funny to see, even a 10 was small but a lot closer. Never had many IFE on any tankers I recall but the E's were Guard and Reserve birds. A D and R's were what we had. Lost an A one night in '86 down in Panama. We would have more issues with the A's and D's both J57 birds but once transitioned to R's really cleared that up.-135s we had weren't bad, don't get me wrong. 7th flew E-model -135s. They had engine issues sometimes.
I don't remember a single IFE on a KC-10 for the five months we had them in Spain while I was there for the Storm.

At Grissom on a crystal blue Feb day we did a 12 ship mito EC and KC-135's, all J57 birds. We got 11 off but 12 aborted. By the time 12th bird EC-135G got a quarter way down the runway you couldn't even see it due to all the black smoke hanging in the air from the water injection on the 11 before. The EC we thought for sure aborted due to viability but it was one of the engines EGT issues. When I was at Andersen we would MITO three bomber and three tankers with them.
