"modern jets" being a very relative term... as the F2H-3 Banshees were used surplus ex-USN fighters*, delivered from 1955, and deleted in 1961.

* Built 1952-53, replaced in active-duty squadrons in the mid-late 1950s by F2H-4s and F3Ds, retired from reserve squadrons in 1961.
