At least the Super Hornet have a family resemblance to the Hornet, a Hornet in steroids

But the only semblance between the 22 and the 22M is that both are twin engine bombers. Maybe when the budget came tight in the USSR Tupolev and/or the MoD passed the M as only a modification to ensure some rubles allowed to be spent, instead of a complete new design.
 

And what should we say about the A-1 Skyraider and the OA-1K Skyraider II ?

Most commonly the term "Cold War" is considered to have been from associated with the American–Soviet Cold War of 1947–1991.

One could consider we are now in a couple of new ones:

  1. The Europe/West (perhaps with/without the USA) vs Russia
  2. USA (and others) vs China
