This brings back a painful memory. The daughter of a friend of ours was in the NZAF when they had the A4, and was in the first batch of female pilots being trained for fast jets. Understandably everyone was rightly proud of this and they all got very excited NZ announced that were going to buy some 2nd hand F16's to replace the A4's.
As you are probably aware the NZ government then cancelled the planned purchase of the F16's.
She was totally gutted and left the Airforce going into civilian aviation.
