See that door door that opens on the side of the airplane? That is because the Spey is a turbofan and needs a whole lot more air than a turbojet. Imagine if they put TF-33 turbofans on a B-52 or KC-135 but insisted on keeping the same J-57 cowlings.If the Spey were chosen (at least in part) due to fuel efficiency, why the K became so short legged?
