"Our German Language teacher at KAHS in Karlsruhe was Herr Dieter Zink. During WWII Staffel Fuhrer LT. Dieter Zink of JG3. He was an Ace - shot down over a dozen allied planes. He was shot down twice - the second time he was captured by the allies and sent to a POW camp in Georgia.
I'm trying to figure out the time period."
His German teacher in Kaiserslautern American High School was a former fighter pilot. I wonder if the kids in class were aware of how famous their teacher was?
